The Vatican tour begins inside the Vatican Museums. Founded when Pope Julius II in 1506 bought the recently discovered Laocoön sculpture, the Vatican Museums hold one of the world’s oldest and richest collection of art. After visiting the complete museum see Michelangelo’s world famous frescoes in the Sistine Chapel then continue directly into St.Peter’s basilica and finish in St.Peters square
